NORMADIC STUDY TEAM MEETS DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH, GHS

The KHRC Nomadic study team, as part of the study’s stakeholder engagement met with the Deputy Director of Public Health, Ghana Health Service, Dr. Asiedu Bekoe at KHRC, to discuss the study.


The study team was represented by Dr. Kwaku Poku Asante, Mr. Lawrence Gyabaa Febir and Dr. Samuel Afari-Asiedu.





Dr. Asiedu-Bekoe commended the study team for conducting this important study to explore opportunities to improve on vaccination coverage among nomadic populations. He further encouraged the team to investigate vaccination coverage in the normal population who are not nomads to be able to put the issue of low vaccination for specific vaccines into perspective.




The KHRC-UNICEF Nomadic study which commenced on March, 2022 aims to explore the health seeking behaviour and develop pathways for the uptake of vaccination among nomadic populations in selected districts in the Upper west, Savannah, Bono east, and Ashanti regions of Ghana.


Findings from this study will contribute to designing strategies to improve on low vaccination coverage among nomadic population in Ghana and other Sub-Saharan African countries.
